When a new pregnancy arises, go to an informative consultation of the reproductive specialist, who according to the detailed clinical history, will advise some analyzes and in this way not have to wait a long time. "If everything is fine, the pregnancy will come quickly." And of course, it is recommended to avoid the use of toxic substances such as excessive alcohol, tobacco, or drugs. Do sport and have a proper diet.

In most cases, with all the treatments that patients have at their disposal today, it is rare that pregnancy does not occur. Although it is true that, given how hard it is to go through a process of assisted reproduction - or several, in a large number of cases- many women decide not to continue.

There is no clear and closed recommendation, nor formulas that facilitate the acceptance that this second child probably does not arrive. While it is true that fertility treatment hospitals have been able to learn from many couples in this situation who take the opportunity to resume a healthy life, identify some incipient disease and, perhaps (only maybe), this can help them to see their child grow longer.

There is a growing awareness that age is an implacable limit for having children and that these biological limits do not exactly match the social, working, or loving age. So many of our patients are very surprised not to get that second pregnancy when there was no problem with the first. But over the years clearly marks the ovarian reserve of women and the quality of man's sperm, to which are sometimes added sequelae of tubal infections and other problems that have been accumulating over time.

It tends to be assumed that if you have already had a first child, the second will eventually arrive. But it is not always like that. It could be that the reproductive problems were already manifesting before the first pregnancy and that this came almost by a stroke of luck. But it is also possible that they were unleashed after him, and that is why they were not contemplated.

Girls are born having all the eggs that will be expelled throughout their fertile life. Therefore, as young as the future mother feels, we must bear in mind that the ovules are as old as she is. When a woman decides to become a mother at age 40, her ova are 40 years old. Its quality will not be so good anymore.

When to go to the doctor?

When a couple seeks a second pregnancy, it usually takes longer to go to the doctor if it does not arrive. It will be assumed that it is only a matter of time to achieve a pregnancy. But time runs against him. The idea is to go to the fertility treatment hospitals in Delhi after twelve months of unsuccessful attempts.

Secondary infertility is usually less understood than primary infertility. It is played down because you already have a child. Nothing could be further from the truth. The inability to expand the family as desired may generate both pain and dissatisfaction as it does in those couples who do not get the first pregnancy. In addition to stress or feelings of guilt, the continuous allusions to that second child who does not arrive can be very painful.
