There are a number of neurological diseases that occur much more frequently in summer than in spring, autumn or winter. The reason for this is the active use of air conditioners, fans and windows wide open. Have you been blown away? Read what the consequences may be and how to deal with misfortune.

Let's look at the most common diseases, the cause of which can be local hypothermia of the body. (This time we’ll leave a runny nose and other manifestations of the common cold, you will deal with them without the help of MH, right?) So, you saved yourself from the heat with the help of an air conditioner, and now you are faced with-

Sharp pain in the muscles

Perhaps these are manifestations of a disease such as myositis.

Symptoms- With this ailment, you will feel pain in the muscle area (muscles of the neck and other parts of the spine suffer more often than others). In addition, myositis is fraught with restriction of movement (it hurts to turn the neck, bend). When pressing on the affected muscle, a noticeable pain occurs.

Treatment- In no case do not try to warm the sore spot (including with the help of ointments), apply compresses. The fact is that the muscle with myositis is inflamed, edema can be observed, there is a violation of the venous outflow, warming will only intensify these symptoms. Treatment of this disease should be carried out by a neurologist. But what if you are away from civilization? A light painkiller and anti-inflammatory ointments will help (if you are going on a trip - put the necessary medicines in the medicine cabinet).

Shooting acute pain in the face

Perhaps this is trigeminal neuralgia.

Symptoms- The disease is manifested by acute, shooting, paroxysmal pain in the face - discomfort can occur in the forehead, eyeball, ear, upper and lower jaws (in this case you can confuse trigeminal neuralgia with toothache and make an appointment with the dentist, however, on the spot it turns out that you turned to the wrong address). Other manifestations of the disease are discharge from one half of the nose (on the side that is affected), redness of the eyes, lacrimation.

Treatment- Self-medication is extremely dangerous and can lead to a chronic form of the disease, which is very difficult to get rid of. There are frequent cases when the disease is accompanied by rashes of herpes along the inflamed nerve, which requires specific, antiviral treatment.

Acute intense pain in the neck and arm

Perhaps this is radiculopathy (radicular syndrome) of the cervical spine.

Symptoms- If, after hypothermia/draft, there is a pain in the neck, shoulders, shoulder blades, which gives to the elbow, wrist, fingers, numbness, and weakness of both the hand and the arm as a whole is observed, then most likely you are faced with radiculopathy. This is an inflammatory phenomenon of the spinal root. It is also a possible inflammation of the brachial plexus.

Treatment- As in some other cases described above, self-medication is unacceptable. With this disease, the doctor will prescribe anti-inflammatory drugs, muscle relaxants, vitamins, and you may need acupuncture, physiotherapy, as well as spinal traction, manual therapy, and drug blockades.

Shooting pains in the chest

Perhaps these are manifestations of intercostal neuralgia.

Symptoms- Cannot take a deep breath. Any movement (tilting, raising a hand) causes you to shoot pain between the ribs. If the temperature also rises, then it is possible to develop herpes zoster (manifested by rashes along the inflamed nerve on the second or third day of the development of the disease).

Treatment-Correct diagnosis is very important here, as the symptoms may be similar to heart diseases requiring emergency medical attention. Blockages with anesthetics, reflexology, magnetotherapy, UHF are prescribed.
